Uni-Que

I'm pretty much madly in love with Free People's Voile and Lace Trapeze Slip. I bought it first in the color I'm wearing, blue, this summer. Then in fall, I bought the deep red color. I'm kind of thinking I need another one for spring. Is that excessive? Even if it is, it doesn't really matter to me. I'm thinking of either getting it again in the Lilac or the Ballet colors, just so I have a softer one. The reason I can justify owning more than one of these gorgeous slips is because A. they're so versatile. I can think of so many different ways to style them, and they're great for layering. B. They're not a basic. Having something so fun, funky, and unique that is also super wearable is kind of an amazing thing in my opinion.

Do any of you have unique pieces you could seriously wear every day and be happy?

Flecks of Golden Glitter

I was so excited to show you guys this new skirt that I wanted the day to be perfect. I usually like to save outfits like this for days where I'll actually be doing something, but I woke up today in kind of a weird mood and just needed to wear something pretty, even though all I would be doing was sitting at my computer churning out homework.

I have been desperate for glitzy stuff because I feel like the month of December is really the only time where it's really appropriate to wear them. Don't get me wrong, I've been known to bust out my more "dazzling" pieces year round, but there's something about glitter in December that just feels right. When I was home for Thanksgiving, I really wanted to bring home my senior prom dress which is knee length and covered in gold and silver glitter and sequins. Alas, I forgot to bring it, which of course meant I had to buy something similar to substitute. I went to Urban Outfitters looking for Christmas stalkings to no avail. However, I did see a bunch of glittery pieces! I tried on probably about seven different gorgeous glittery things, but in the end because I wanted to save my money to buy presents for everyone for Christmas, I settled on this gorgeous maxi skirt. I'm so glad I did. Even though it's not really a piece a person can wear every day, I'm still so in love with it! I love the way light hits in, and shines through the sheer glittery maxi length sections. It's flowy, it's flattering, and it's glittery. What more could a girl want in a skirt? I can't wait to wear it more and more!

What pieces are your favorite to wear for the Holiday season?

Adore-able

Today is the first day that I only have a little bit of homework to do. (A five page paper isn't too bad, right?) Because I only had a little bit to do, I procrastinated a little bit and now am feeling a little rushed. However my procrastination time was spent sleeping in and picking out my outfit. I had a couple different variations of this outfit in my head, but settled on this one simply because it was the one that best show cased my Adore Me bra. My friend Kacie had a blog post about the store and I bought a set right after reading it. Their bras are a little too perfect to keep hidden, so I feel pretty confident in this outfit because of the little Adore Me touch.

When was the last time a fellow blogger inspired you to buy something?

The Casual Geek in Me

I love a good blazer. It's no secret. The GAP literally has like, seven versions of this blazer and I want each and every one of them. I bought this one a few weeks back because I thought it was most "fun", and I already had a few blazers in neutral colors. I love the polka dot lining, and the bright trip along the collar. I decided to keep the look casual still by pairing it with my favorite TOMS, my Bob Dylan shirt, and my glasses. Because I have glasses but normally wear contacts, wearing my glasses is an instant way to either make an outfit look a little bit more laid back (typically part of my "get gussied up" routine involves contacts > glasses.) but it also makes for a more geeky look. (I'm a geek at heart, it's true. Or am I a nerd? Maybe both.) What goes better together than nerdy glasses and a blazer? Nothing. The answer is nothing.

Busy Gal

Today is a much better day compared to yesterday! I've been feeling so worn down lately, so last night I promised myself that I wouldn't do anything but play on the computer and watch TV. I ended up doing that until 5AM and then slept in until 2 in the afternoon. I said I would do homework today, but I haven't done much of that either. Life goes on, and I have until Tuesday to get everything I need done. Hopefully that's enough time!

On top of it all, I got my permanent fund dividend! I'm not sure if any of you know what it is, but anyone who is an Alaskan resident applies for their PFD and every year the state gives every resident a certain amount of money. This year it was 900 dollars, and it showed up in my account today. It's such a nice thing to look forward to every year. People actually complain about it sometimes, saying that it's a small amount of money because in past years it's reached up to 2000 dollars! I'm not complaining though - Shopping money is always, always, always appreciated! (Though I'm probably saving most of it for Christmas shopping.)

Anyways, this outfit to me, is pretty girly. It's pink, and has flowers, and those are both things that I love but "girly" isn't exactly a word I identify with. (Don't get me wrong, I love girly stuff. My personality doesn't seem to mesh with it though.) With most outfits, you can wear jeans and throw a long scarf over it and it gives it more of a fall look, especially when the scarf is thick and chunky like the one I'm wearing. It's not totally obvious, but here's a fun fact for you - My TOMS are fuzzy on the inside. Yay for fall TOMS! This outfit for me is perfect for running errands, doing homework, blogging, and going to the museum - Which is what I'll be doing later! It's the perfect outfit for a busy gal, such as myself today.

Favorites Friday: Blogger Special - Le Happy

I'm not going to lie, I'm kind of picky when it comes to bloggers. I think that the world of fashion blogging is so vast today that though there are some truly inspiring and unique blogs out there, finding someone who you think is really interesting is a bit of a diamond in the rough. That's why I was so excited when I stumbled upon the blog, Le Happy.
What first drew me to Lua's blog was her name. I've always loved the name Lua; it's so rare. Just like her name, Lua's style is rare too. She has such a fun, funky, punk style. She reminds me of the kind of girl I'd want to be if I lived in LA in the 1980s, only she's in New York right now! (Which makes it even cooler.) You can always count on her blog to introduce you to new, unique brands. I'm always on the hunt for new stores because, though I love Urban brand stores, they're so popular that their uniquness can be sometimes overshaddowed. (Not that their popularity is a bad thing!) Lua's style is refreshing and full of her personality. Honestly, as dorky as it may make me sound, when I first say Lua's blog the first word that came to my mind was "cool". Though Lua's style isn't quite what I would call my own, it is definitely up my alley -- And besides, that's the great thing about her style and her blog, it is definitely all her own.

Not to mention -- That hair. So damn cool
