Fun Money

Brandy Melville is one of my favorite places to head when I have some extra fun money in my budget. You can get so much bang for your buck there! I bought this top with the upcoming summer months in mind, but was too excited not to wear it, despite the weather still being a bit chilly. (I don't really mind or notice when it comes to taking pictures!) I can think of so many ways to style this little striped crop top - I love it when you can find a piece that's fun but still simple enough to work into your wardrobe fairly easily.

What's your go-to place to shop when you have some extra money to spend?

Better Weather

Hey everyone! I know I've been more than neglectful over the summer, but I promise I'm trying to be better about it. A busy schedule + a lack of inspiration has been hindering my creativity as of lately, but I'm starting to get back into the groove of things, especially with fall time approaching. I think we can all agree that sweaters make everything better. Always. I've always preferred "gloomy" weather over sunny days, anyways. To me, it opens up so many options for outfits and layering, plus I love all the cozy activities. There's some guilt free aspect of staying in bed all day watching Netflix in the fall that I just don't get in the summer! Besides that, I'm ready for my hair to stop turning red. The sun'll do crazy things to your hair - Does anybody else have that problem? Blagh!

Oh! P.S. These leggings from Zara are a fall time essential. Buy some.

What are your most favorite fall time activities?

Tips & Tricks

Question: Do these photos look better than they normally look? Because I really think they look great compared to the past photos! I have a friend back in Alaska who is too humble to admit how great she is with photography (You can check out some of her photos on her Tumblr page, right here) and she gave me some tips, to pass on to Matt, who has close to no interest in photography. It's amazing what a couple little tricks can do to your photos!

Today also brought with it some decent weather. It was on and off, so Matt and I ran outside to take these photos during a sunny patch. I got this dress for Christmas from my mom, and I love it so much. I'm almost mad at myself for not wearing it sooner. It's simple but super pretty, and from the Free People beach collection, so I'm really proud of her for digging deep! The length is so cute. I could totally see myself picking out flowers at the market or walking a dog in the park in this outfit. Too bad I don't have a dog.

Do You Realize?

Hey everyone. I haven't posted in a while. School has been kind of hectic (yay midterms) and I've had family visiting me throughout the month. I go through phases of great discouragement and great inspiration, and I guess this month has been more on the side of discouragement. I'm not sure why, exactly. Maybe there is no reason. When I feel discouraged and defeated like that, I often retreat into my own little world (which usually is located on my bed). I guess I'm kind of over emotional, and the littlest things can sometimes impact my entire week. I read a quote this morning; I'm not sure who it was by, but it was basically saying that you shouldn't compare your life to others, because our lives are all journeys, and those journeys are specific to each of us. So if someone has things or relationships or opportunities in their lives that you wish you had, remember life isn't a race or some big list you need to check things off of as soon as possible - Enjoy your time, and enjoy your wait. I'm not sure I've fully come to realize this yet, though I've certainly come to understand it.

Uni-Que

I'm pretty much madly in love with Free People's Voile and Lace Trapeze Slip. I bought it first in the color I'm wearing, blue, this summer. Then in fall, I bought the deep red color. I'm kind of thinking I need another one for spring. Is that excessive? Even if it is, it doesn't really matter to me. I'm thinking of either getting it again in the Lilac or the Ballet colors, just so I have a softer one. The reason I can justify owning more than one of these gorgeous slips is because A. they're so versatile. I can think of so many different ways to style them, and they're great for layering. B. They're not a basic. Having something so fun, funky, and unique that is also super wearable is kind of an amazing thing in my opinion.

Do any of you have unique pieces you could seriously wear every day and be happy?

FUNK!

Hey everyone. I almost didn't take blog pictures today. I feel so lethargic and weak. I think I'm getting sick, and all I want to do is sleep, be lazy, and play the Sims 3! Once again, I wasn't nearly as productive as I should have been today.

I'm getting really excited about Halloween though! The reason I even left the house today in this outfit is because, well, one, I love my new jacket but haven't gotten around to wearing it yet. Secondly, and most directly, I went to buy pumpkins today! I went to Whole Foods and picked out three perfect pumpkins. Every year I try to carve the best pumpkin and every year it doesn't work out - If this year is any different, I'll be sure to post about it on my blog! (And maybe even if it doesn't work out, I'll still post it on my blog! You just won't know til it happens!)

If you saw the last photo of this post, then you're probably wondering who that guy is in the bottom photo. Well, I don't know his name. He asked for 85 cents, and when my boyfriend complied, the homeless (or maybe he has a home and his hobby is begging on the street. Either way, he was very eccentric.) He told my boyfriend Matt that everyone who gives him money gets to pull on the rope he was sitting by and it gives them good wishes. He also said he is often mistaken for the drummer of a funk band, and when Matt took his picture, instead of saying "cheese" as Matt suggested, he held up a peace sign and said "FUNK!"

Pretty hilarious.
