Sometimes when we take pictures, Eric tells me to "look mean". I don't know why it feels so good to look mean sometimes. Being mean doesn't feel good, at least not to me, but there's something about a look of boredom and disdain that is satisfying when it comes to taking pictures. I've been thinking a lot lately about what it means to give yourself permission to do what you want. It's a really empowering feeling that I feel like a lot of us, especially women (Yeah, I'm generalizing, so what?), deal with on a regular basis. It's been one of my resolutions to do more of what I want, to say more of what I want, and to look how I want, and so far it's been going really well. I feel really good about it. It sounds obvious until you're at a point in your life when you realize it's not how you've been living, but there's a lot of power in allowing yourself to be who you want to be.
