Flecks of Golden Glitter

I was so excited to show you guys this new skirt that I wanted the day to be perfect. I usually like to save outfits like this for days where I'll actually be doing something, but I woke up today in kind of a weird mood and just needed to wear something pretty, even though all I would be doing was sitting at my computer churning out homework.

I have been desperate for glitzy stuff because I feel like the month of December is really the only time where it's really appropriate to wear them. Don't get me wrong, I've been known to bust out my more "dazzling" pieces year round, but there's something about glitter in December that just feels right. When I was home for Thanksgiving, I really wanted to bring home my senior prom dress which is knee length and covered in gold and silver glitter and sequins. Alas, I forgot to bring it, which of course meant I had to buy something similar to substitute. I went to Urban Outfitters looking for Christmas stalkings to no avail. However, I did see a bunch of glittery pieces! I tried on probably about seven different gorgeous glittery things, but in the end because I wanted to save my money to buy presents for everyone for Christmas, I settled on this gorgeous maxi skirt. I'm so glad I did. Even though it's not really a piece a person can wear every day, I'm still so in love with it! I love the way light hits in, and shines through the sheer glittery maxi length sections. It's flowy, it's flattering, and it's glittery. What more could a girl want in a skirt? I can't wait to wear it more and more!

What pieces are your favorite to wear for the Holiday season?

Eeny Meeny Miny Minnie

I have been staying up way too late and waking up way too late lately, which unfortunately has meant a lot of the time that I'm ready to take blog pictures, means horrible lighting because the sun is going down by the time I've gotten up, eaten, and gotten ready. (I'm horrible, I know! But Netflix has been so tempting lately.) I felt really good about this outfit today, mainly because I didn't have anywhere to go and nobody to see, but I still got dressed up. Getting a little dressed up, even if it just means wearing something I like that's not pajamas, always makes me feel better about my day. I'm also happy about this outfit because I think lately my blog posts have been very casual, and though I do love seeing casual outfits on blogs, I also like to post things that people might not always try. For example, polka dots, Minnie Mouse socks, oxford heels, and an oversized blazer all in one outfit? Not exactly an every day look. (Unless of course for you, it is, in which case I applaud you.)

On a semi-unrelated note, I'm pretty excited because I think I decided what I want to do after college. Everyone has always told me to be a writer, but I love fashion first and foremost. I think after college I'm going to move to a city like New York City or Seattle (depending on how gutsy I feel at that time!) and per-sue a career as a fashion writer. How cool would it be to be a styling editor or something?

Would any of you fashion lovers like a job in fashion? If so what? Or is it just a hobby?

Trendy Tuesday: Snapbacks!

I cannot wait to try out the snap back/baseball hat trend! It's a little trickier for me, because I prefer more "masculine" hats like the Harlem one or the all black leather, but because my hair is so short, it's hard to keep the look feminine! I'll probably wear it with a dress or a baggy shirt tucked into a skirt - but only time will tell until I find the perfect hat! I do love the floral ones, but they are one of those things that I love on other people but not necessarily myself. I've come to realize that though I tried to fight using this word to describe my style - I do have a very tomboyish wardrobe! I feel most confident and comfortable in tom boy clothes. I think growing up, especially in Alaska, "tom boy" has a different meaning - As in tom boys where I come from, literally, dress and look like boys. I know I've always liked boy stuff with a girly twist - I love the contrast in things like that!

Is there any word that you don't typically identify with that you would still use to describe your style, in your own unique way? (That's one long question!)
