Heart of Gold

Today was such a busy and productive day for me. I've been busy with applying for scholarships and keeping up with school. (Finals are coming up!) In about an hour, I'm going to head out to a casting call for Portland Fashion Week. They're looking for models and wanted to meet with me, so that's excited! In between all the busyness, as always, I took the time to take some outfit photos. Blogging is my favorite part of my day, aside from when I get to come home and snuggle my cat for the rest of the evening. (I'm not as lame as I sound.) Lately, I've been finding comfort and happiness in the little things. Today, a breeze went buy and it felt so good while wearing this flow-y top, I just had to stop and smile. When you're having a busy day, I think it best to focus on the little things; it keeps you grounded.

Feel the Rain

It's dark and gloomy and cold and wet here in Portland, which upsets me greatly because yesterday (a day that I spent 100% of my time either in class, at a modeling casting call, or waiting for my cab) was absolutely gorgeous and one of the first "warmer" days we've had this spring! I'm hoping that my weather app on my phone is lying to me when it says it's supposed to stay this nasty until Tuesday. :( I couldn't let that stop me from wearing these shoes though. I hope you all are having better weather where ever you are! As a wise man once said, "Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet." And yes, that's another Dylan quote for ya'.

The Blogger

This outfit to me just screams blogger. I'm not sure what exactly about it gives me that impression, but I think the idea of classic meets quirky is a style that's present in most bloggers in some form or another. I've been thinking a lot lately about the blogging world, and discovered so many great and unique people through it. A year ago, I didn't have a hobby, but slowly but surely you guys have become my hobby. I would just like to say that I really appreciate everyone who reads and subscribes, it means a lot to me as I've been thinking more and more about taking my knowledge of fashion and combining it with my love of social networking somehow for a career. Every page view, subscriber, comment, and reader helps. I only hope that I help you in some ways as well.

That being said, blogging rules. Is there anything that you would like to see more of on this blog, or in the blogging realm in general?

Tangled Up in Blue

Hey guys!
Today, I woke up and just wanted to feel "cute". Cute, to me, translates to peter pan collars, and lately it also translates to the color blue. I am in love with peter pan collars, and always have been. I've had this top for a few years now actually, and still love it. Which is a feat for someone who buys new clothes as much as I do! It's such a pretty color blue and it is so versatile. I've worn it with hot pink jeans and gotten lots of compliments, and dark wash jeans and a black cardigan. Today, because I'm not doing anything but grocery shopping and homework, I thought a casual look with rolled up straight leg jeans would do just the trick.

Pretty in Pastel

This is pretty much the perfect summer dress for me. It has lace detailing, flowers, it's in a fun color, it's hort, it's Free People... It's perfect! I want to just live in it, it's so comfy to wear in this hot weather. You know, the kind of weather where all you want to do is lie in a tub of cold water and drink smoothies all day, and you can't go outside because you're afraid you may die of a heat stroke? Yeah, it's that kind of hot today. Maybe it's just because I'm from Alaska and the hottest days I ever see are in the mid 80s, but this is ridiculous. I was told I was going to be in for a rainy summer. Somebody lied!

Stuff I Love: Anthropologie Bedding

And how could I not love Anthropologie's bedding? Though it's a little on the pricier side, it's worth it. I'm lucky enough to be able to tell you that from experience. Though I really don't need anymore duvet covers or quilts (I've bought two sets in the past three months.) I'm dying for one of Anthro's new ones. Which one, which one... I think the one with the boats. Of course.

What do you think of Anthropologie's bedding, and where's your favorite place to shop for home?

Wednesday, June 5, 2013

Hey guys! I apologize for not posting the past week and a half, but I went home to Alaska to visit my family! I feel like so much has happened since I last posted anything, so I figured I'd give you all a little recap + what I wore today in this post. :)

Probably the most exciting thing that happened on my trip back home was that I got into a car crash. (Don't worry, I'm okay!) I was rear-ended by a drunk driver who was going 70 MPH while I was going 30! It was really scary, and I was super confused. I still don't really remember how it happened, but I managed to keep the truck on the road while I was temporarily 'knocked out'. (The doctors said because my brain smashed up against my skull so suddenly that my vision and hearing went out for a few seconds.) I didn't break any bones thank goodness, but I am really sore and have whip lash. I need to go in for a soft tissue MRI now that I'm in a place with a real hospital! (My small town doesn't have a medical facility.) I'm supposed to be on muscle relaxers constantly and on bed rest, but it's almost finals week and I have too much to do! I guess I'll just have to suffer!

I also brought my kitty up to Portland with me! I think she's a little confused, but I'm sure she will warm up to her new home. It's so nice to have her back to cuddle with me. :) Isn't she the cutest?

As far as fashion goes, today has been a pretty relaxed day for me. My cousins (two very messy, but very sweet boys) have come to visit me. They're my best friends, and sometimes I don't think they realize I'm a girl! (Just kidding.) I am loving having them over, but the activities they want to do don't exactly call for cute dresses and lots of jewelry! So, therefor, I stole my boyfriends Black Sabbath t-shirt (Excuse me. Borrowed. Looks better on me anyways! :) ) and paired it with my white roll up jeans to try to add a little bit of femininity to the outfit. Add it all up with a pair of Steve Maddens, and voila! An effortless cool look that even your best guy friends will appreciate!
