There's something so essential about being outside. I'm from a place where you take two steps out the front door and you're in the wild, so going to parks and walking on pavement are newer experiences to me, that I sometimes have to work hard to enjoy. Though, no matter where I go, the sky never changes - And there's something about a sunny sky that calls for a pretty skirt and a little bare skin. It's only natural.

Light Rail Coyote
Sometimes waking up in the morning turns into a stressful affair, usually on the mornings I have class and don't want to deal with other human beings. (Ha! Every day, right?) Except today was Sunday, I had no class, and humans were somewhat optional.
It's been one of my goals this last year to spend less money, partially because it's a nasty habit (yeah, right. Like I believe that.) and because I have none (more valid). What I've learned from this experience of spending less money so far, is that we can sometimes be total lazy asses when it comes to fashion. While a fat wallet helps with style, and I would like a fat wallet very much, I've had fun forcing myself to get creative with pieces I haven't used to their full potential. Even though this outfit here is really simple, it's still functional and stylish. The best part is I've never worn it before, and nothing makes me more ready to kick the day's ass--er.. I mean, have a killer day than wearing something 'new'.

Blue Moon
I am one of those people who has a really hard time being nice to myself sometimes. It's not like I am mean to myself necessarily, I can just work really hard to take care of others and then kind of do a slack ass job when it comes to myself. That's why lately, I've felt a little run down and have made it my mission for the week to take excellent care of myself, like it's my passion. And it made me think, maybe this shouldn't last a week. Like maybe we should all take care of ourselves like it's our passion, and then in the end, we'll feel a lot better. It shouldn't be such a blue moon occurrence in so many of our lives (I know I'm not alone in my habit), and that's why I am requesting - no demanding - that today, you do something super fucking nice for yourself. Today I planned a trip to Hawaii for my boyfriend and myself, and am feeling pretty stoked about it.
What are you going to do for yourself today?

Good Omen
Omen; a sign of prophetic significance.
I personally believe in this sort of thing. My mom always told me growing up that there are messages for us everywhere, if we're willing to listen. Because of this little nugget that was imbedded into my little brain, I've always tried to be acutely aware of the universe's messages for me. Lately, I feel like I've been getting a lot of them. There's something extremely gratifying and reassuring about letting yourself believe the universe is on your side; that it is a presence at all. I won't share the larger issues in my life where I've received my omens, or 'little messages' as I call them, but I thought I would share a smaller, sillier one with you all. I bought this sweater for a couple of reasons...
A. I needed a really cozy turtleneck. (Note: "needed" is a relative term, always, when discussing my spending habits.)
And B. When I saw this one, though it was a little pricier than I had hoped, I had to buy it. It's called the Dylan Tweedy Turtle neck. As you know if you've been a follower of my blog for a while, or my Instagram, I am a huge Bob Dylan fan. So is my dad; my parents even named my brother Dylan. Of course this sweater was meant to be in my life. There's no other explanation! I must own it, the universe wills it so!
At least, that's what I'm choosing to believe.

Take the Fall
Sorry I haven't posted in a few days! I've been pretty busy avoiding the sun. I'm beyond ready to start transitioning my wardrobe more towards fall, my favorite season for countless reasons. I couldn't exactly get dressed today using as many layers of cozy fabrics as I would have liked, but I could play a bit with the color palette. Ripped tights and sheer Victorian style tops in berry tones will just have to hold me over til it cools down!
What's your favorite season for fashion?

Who'da Thought!
Lately, I feel like I've stumbled into the dark abyss that is finding the perfect boyfriend jean. I would apologize for being dramatic, but I almost feel as though "dark abyss" is an understatement. Jean shopping is exhausting enough as it is! Finding the perfect pair that is baggy enough to be legitimately boyfriend-esque, but not so baggy that you look like an actual boyfriend is a daunting and intimidating task. Today, I literally spent an hour going through my closet trying to think of what to wear. I had an idea in my mind of what I wanted to wear, but I just didn't have the tools - aka the clothes - aka I should probably go clothes shopping soon, right? Right. Anyways, I was getting pretty distraught over my lack of boyfriend jean awesomeness when it hit me! Why don't I just wear my boyfriend's jeans? Who'da thought! Between this post and yesterdays, he should probably just start a fashion blog of his own. So stylish.

Different
I'm so excited to be posting an outfit for you guys! My boyfriend and I haven't been together as much lately (no problems, just busy schedules!) and that means less outfit photos for you guys! My birthday is coming up, and my mom surprised me with giving me my birthday money early, because I'll be back in Alaska on my actual birthday, and there's no shopping centers or anything where I live. Because of my Nordstrom internship coming up this June (SO EXCITED), I thought Nordstrom would be the best place to spend a chunk of my money. They always have great quality pieces that are both on trend yet classic. I'm so excited to be part of a store that I love so much.
Also, I got a new blog makeover! I decided I wanted something simple and clean, and though I love the watercolor/pastel/pretty look, I just wasn't feeling like it was me any more. And besides that, my favorite thing ever is for things to change and be different from before!
How have you guys been? What do you guys think of the new blog look?
