What Year Is It?

 It's 2016!

Hey everyone! So much has happened since I lasted posted; my blog has been sorely neglected over the past few months. I promise I have a good excuse though - I graduated college last month! The weeks leading up to my graduation and portfolio show (the Art Institutes require a finished portfolio for graduation) were hectic. I got, on average, about 3-4 hours of sleep every night, spent more time at FedEx than any normal person should (and spent a fortune in printing costs), and lived on my computer. I was seriously at the point where I couldn't close my eyes after a while because my eye lids would flicker like I was still looking at a computer screen!

Despite the busyness though, life has been going so great. My boyfriend Eric and I have some big plans moving into the new year, that I'm excited to share with you all! I'll be doing a much better job at keeping my Instagram updated as well. :) I'm so excited to have time again to do what I love, which brings me to my New Years Resolution - doing what I want! I'm one of those people who let's other peoples' feelings and thoughts influence my own all too often, so my focus on 2016 is going to be to be as selfish as I need. But that's a lot harder than it sounds!

Rain or Shine

Rain or shine, these pants are one of my favorite things. They're so comfortable, but ufortunately they're just not the kind of thing you can wear everyday. (That's how people get bad nicknames, like "poncho girl" or "strange 70s hippie pants chick".) However, because when it's hot it's too hot for pants, I thought today's overcast skies would be perfect to bust out my bells. Then it started to rain. And I didn't even care. That's how you know you're feeling good in your outfit.

When was the last time you felt great in what you were wearing?

The Cold Shoulder

Wishes do come true! A big thank you to my boyfriend Matt for buying me this shirt that is currently my main obsession. I love the shoulder cold shoulders, low back, and fun print - It's a perfect hippie chick essential for me, and I'm planning to get a lot of use out if it this summer when it warms up. It's been too cold to wear it (and it kind of was too cold today to wear it... But whatever.) I woke up this morning with a horrible cold. Hopefully you can't tell - Makeup is a powerful and wonderful thing. Anyways, despite my runny nose and sore throat, as soon as I saw the sun in the sky I decided it was time to wear my new favorite shirt. I'm so glad I did, and I'm actually kind of loving the way that the photos came out, despite the fact they were taken right outside my building...

What was the last exciting purchase you guys made?

Bold

I know I haven't been blogging in a while. I'm not sure if it's the weather, the season, or just life in general but I've been feeling so blah lately. (I feel like I say that a lot, so I'm sorry if I do!) Today was the first day in a while I woke up to sunshine, so I decided to take the opportunity to finally wear my Novella Royale bell bottoms. I'm so happy I bought these because I got them from Free People, and on Free People's website, they discontinued this color in opt for an all red, monochrome-esque pair. At first I wasn't sure if I should go for the brightest pair of pants - I mean they're a bold cut, so I wasn't positive I should go for the boldest color option on top of it all. In the end, I'm so glad I did. I have a less-is-more mentality when I get dressed. I don't like feeling like I'm hiding behind clothes, but every once in a while, you need to go bold.

Just Don't Give a Damn

I felt like this outfit was too much in some ways, but today I just didn't care. I've been feeling very inspired lately, which is a feeling that I regret to report has been sparce in recent months. I'm in a "just don't give a damn" mind set, and this kimono was so comfortable. I came out of my room this morning (er, afternoon) and Matt said "You look like a hippie." Usually that's all I need. I didn't want to look to "bohemian" though, because it's not really my style. I mean, bohemian is part of my style, what I mean is that one thing isn't my style. I don't like looking totally bohemian, or totally preppy, or totally punk, but I like mixing those things up. Amplifying one word for the look, for me, feels really forced and serious. That being said, I thought converse were the perfect shoe to push my easy look to it's ultimate effortless edge. The result was an outfit, much to my surprise, that I felt really confident in.

Nightmare Hippie Girl

Hey guys. I don't know why, but lately I've been having really off days. When I feel off, wearing something cute will usually make me feel better. I know that sounds kind of weird, but I figure if you're taking the time to read a fashion blog you might kind of get where I'm coming from. Lately though, I've been having to change midway through the day because of weather and other conditions, like how much I would be walking.

Anyways, as for today's outfit (or first half of the day outfit, I should say) this is a dress that I bought a few weeks ago. I'm not going to lie, I spend a lot of money on clothes. However, I'm one of those shoppers who usually buys a bunch of really nice things rather than one super great thing. This was my little splurge though. I've gotta tell you - I'm not regretting it :) This dress is very much my style, though it's not the kind of thing that I would wear everyday. I love the 60s Mod shape, but because of the lace and bell sleeves, it still gives off a very laid back, hippie chick vibe; a vibe I'm always on board for. It came in lighter colors, but I opted for the black because A) It's my favorite, and if something comes in black, I buy in black! B) It gave it a more edgy vibe, whereas a lighter color might have been too girly. (For those of you who don't know, the title of this post is a title of a Beck song. Fun fact! But doesn't it suit the outfit well?)

What was the last thing you splurged on?
