The Comeback Kid

I'm baaa-aaack!

It's been a long summer. With two trips back home to Alaska (one being a planned two weeks, and the other being a totally spontaneous four weeks due to family stuff), a new apartment, a ten day visit from my best friend, all on top of online classes and various other things... You could say I've been pretty busy. Unfortunately, that meant being too busy to take blog photos, let alone put myself together on most days. (I seriously have a Birkenstock tan line. Seriously.) Those busy summer days are behind me now though, with the only lingering evidence of summer being the ungodly heat here in Portland. Long story short, I'm happy to be "back"; and what better way to make a comeback than in denim overalls and Doc Marten boots?

Can't Buy a Thrill

This is an outfit I wore a while back, but I hadn't shared the photos with you guys yet. I am so obsessed with these conductor stripe pants from Nordstrom. For me, they're the perfect summer pant. They're light, fun, and super easy to style. I have worn them so many times this week, and I am surprised as to how well they work with so many different things! Ever since I was a kid, I have been obsessed with traveling, especially by train, so I fell in love with these railroad striped babies imediately! Wearing them makes me want to plug into my iPod, crank the Bob Dylan, hop a train, and go on an adventure..

Heathers

I'm in love with my new Mabel and Zora dress. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. There are certain pieces that I see and can immediately think of 100 different ways to style them. Those are my favorite pieces, and this definitely fell under that category. This dress was designed by Tiffany Bean, and I definitely recommend checking out her stuff. Each piece, to me, has a certain feeling to it. I love clothes that can sort of transport you to a different time or feeling; Today, this dress reminded me a lot of the Winona Ryder movie "Heathers", and I had to roll with that. I plan on wearing this dress quite often however, seeing as it's so easy to style, and I can easily see myself feeling many different vibes and looks for this dress; Two on my mind currently are "James Bond girl" (one of my favorite looks!) and 1960s glamorous (Hello, Audrey Hepburn!)

How would you style this little navy dress?

Find Your Spring Style - FP Styling Event!

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting so far this month. It's my spring break which of course means my sleeping schedule is even more out of control than usual, and my best friend visited me from Washington, and then - Then my camera broke. But I fixed it. With a hammer. Anyways.

I got to do a little shopping over spring break, and of course that meant visiting Free People (both online, and in store.) I have been lusting over this tee for months! I finally got my hands on it recently, and am obsessed. I don't think I've taken it off since I got it. There's so many ways to style it, but today I chose a simple approach with dark wash jeans, chunk socks,  the infamous (at least, infamous on my blog) Belmont clog, halter bra, and my very first ever wide-ish brimmed fedora!

Because of how FP inspired this outfit is, I thought it would be a great time to remind you all of the Free People styling event going on this Thursday! If you're in the Portland area, swing by Free People in Bridgeport Village for a special styling event, hosted by myself, Kacie (of Shy Girl Loud Voice) and Tonya (The Moptop). There will be refreshments, a photo booth, styling, and even a special free gift for the first 50 people who attend! RSVP here, and come on down to find your spring style!
