Borrow From the Boys

 A lot of the time, I feel like boys clothes > girls clothes. At least, when it comes to styling, I love incorporating some boy pieces into my outfits. I find a lot of the stuff in the men's section or in my boyfriend's closet to be comfortable, versatile, and full of character. Today's outfit for example started off as a simple black turtleneck crop top, black high rise shorts, and a brown belt. I love taking a basic outfit like today's, and being able to think of so many different directions to take it by pairing it with other things. Today it was boyish, but I could have just as easily went for a bohemian look with a kimono, or a fun classic look with a blazer. Adding Eric's plaid shirt created a boxy, boyish silhouette, and his Ninja Turtle socks added the fun.

Like a Boy

 The weather in Portland is out of control. It's sunny one minute, raining the next, and that makes it extremely hard to get dressed in the morning. Luckily for me, I haven't had much of a reason to leave the house this past week. (Aren't those the best weeks?) Today just felt like a suspenders and plaid shirt kind of day for me. Despite the lack of out-of-the-house time, I've had a lot of exciting things happening lately that I hope to share with you soon. <3

Styling With Kacie & Tonya!

So I found out yesterday that there's such a thing as a really fun group project.

Kacie of Shy Girl Loud Voice and Tonya "The Moptop" and myself all teamed up along with our classmate Kenneth to do a fashion blogger inspired editorial photo shoot for our styling class! The idea was that we would each style three different looks in our own personal fashion blogger style - Androgynous, feminine, and festival were the three styles we chose and this is the result of it! I'm happy to say I'm very pleased with the turn out, and even more pleased that I had such an awesome group to hang out with for the day! A project combining good friends with styling? Sounds like a formula for a great day, despite the rain!

Like a Boy

I looked at the weather app on my phone and saw that it is supposed to rain for like, the next week. Seeing that it was sunny outside today, I knew I had to take the opportunity to take some dry blog pictures. I still have a horrible cold though, so I did take the day off from school and am planning on spending the rest of the day on my couch, browsing Instagram and Tumblr, and working hard to not work at all. I decided to take it easy with my outfit today, wearing something I feel comfortable and confident in. When in doubt, I dress like a boy.

Boy Meets Girl

 Today I felt like looking a little girlier than normal. Of course, that never lasts with me. As soon as I put on this pretty purple top I bought a year ago but had never worn, my first instinct was masculine shoes and my leather jacket. I tried though, right? 

I've noticed a trend with myself and with a lot of other people as well, and it dawned on me that I've never actually discussed it with you guys. My favoritest thing to do with my jeans is roll up the cuffs a little bit. I think it can make any look more fun, and it can add a preppy or girly touch to wearing masculine shoes. I know this might sound weird, but there's something about bones that I just love. An ankle, collar, or shoulder peaking out adds such a feminine touch to some outfits, and I think the ankle of a pair of dark washed jeans being rolled up is the perfect way to achieve that look.
