These Days

These are my favorite kinds of posts to do because I think they let you guys into my life a little bit more than just my "about today" paragraph in my outfit posts. I hope you enjoy them too, and let me know if you would like to see them more often than once every three or four weeks!

Lipstick stains and hot chocolate - It's a good day.

Kitty got a new toy for her birthday! She is very territorial.

My mom was nice enough to buy me this amazing and cute candle from Pottery Barn. My whole apartment smells like cinnamon apples.

Nail polish is one of my many addictions! I have all my prettiest ones on display.

Kitty is helping me pick out a movie to watch. (Not really, she's no help.)

I just thought this photo came out kind of cool. It's of a candle, but at first glance I wouldn't think it!

Perfume bottles are just so pretty, don't you think? Miss Dior Cherie is my "signature scent" but I love Honey!

It's never too early for Christmas lights!

 ...Or Christmas themed chocolate!

Just a shot of some of my apartment decor. I'm going to do a full apartment post when I  have it all cleaned up and decorated for Christmas, so be on the look out for that!

Thanks for checking out my blog guys, and don't forget to enter my beauty giveaway here!

Update via Instagram

Instagram is pretty much my most favorite thing ever. Well, it's up there on the list of Mackenzie's most favorite things ever anyways. I already know I'm going to be so busy today with homework, but I didn't want to just not post anything, so I thought, what would be more perfect than sharing some of my photos from one of my most favorite things - Instagram. If I get time enough today to take some outfit photos, I'll be sure to take some and share with you all, but as a safety measure, I thought it would be a good idea to at least get a little content out there. Besides, I love seeing these kinds of more personal posts from other bloggers I follow. I think it's fun to see into the lives of the people I admire, and it's nice to get a break from the routine of daily outfit posts while still posting original content. Let me know if you like these kinds of posts and if you would like to see more!

Also, I need an opinion. What time of the day do you think is best for posting on a blog? I know some people who do it whenever they get a chance midday, some post at night, and others post right at midnight. When do you like to read blogs, and when do you fellow bloggers think is the best time to get your content out there?
As my mug clearly states, I am the crazy cat lady. I only have one cat, but I am so madly in love with her. Just look at her tiny face! Her petite paws! The way she curls her arms underneath her! Her little missing bit of ear! She's the absolute sweetest cat I've ever known, and I'm so proud to have her. <3 Hence the mug.

Here's some fashion images I've posted to my Instagram recently. All of these photos are from outfits that I've posted on my blog this month, so if you see something you wanna check out, view the archive! I love sharing outfit posts to Instagram. With a blog, you have the chance to show many different photos to express the mood of your outfit, but on Instagram, you're basically given one shot. Is it weird I look at it like some kind of challenge? Even if it is, I find so much joy in it.

Fall is my most favorite time of the year. Unless you're new to my blog, this is old news. I love the colors most of all! The last picture was taken from my front porch back home in Alaska. The sunset is always so beautiful there, no matter what the weather or season. In fact, to be honest with you, that picture is a pretty mellow sunset for us. But it's still so beautiful, and the fact that it was fall just made it that much more beautiful to me. There's also a photo looking out my bedroom window from my place in Portland, me being a pumpkin head, and the result of me tapping into my baking knowledge. (Which is none. That's why those came out of a tube.)

Goodies! I have so many weaknesses when it comes to shopping, one of which being The Body Shop. I love the packaging. Of course, I also love the product. My favorites right now are any of their chamomile or tea tree products. Stepping into Sephora is a pretty much guaranteed $100 dollars gone, for me. I have so many Sephora points but never wanted any of their freebies until I went a few weeks ago and they had a little Marc Jacobs sampler! I already have a bottle of Honey, but I love him so much, I had to get the box set. Lastly, we have some Butter London nail polishes in all the perfect fall colors. I'm thinking I'll be wearing the gold glitters next. Hmm...

The rest of these pictures are just random ones I thought I would share. I posted this quote because I think it's so so true. One of my biggest pet peeves in the world is when people don't stop talking about just themselves. I have a problem of not talking about myself enough, so there's definitely a balance needed there. It's just when people talk only about themselves, and don't bother to get to know or ask about other peoples interests or how they're feeling, that this internal radar I have starts going "insecure. insecure. insecure." I don't take this quote like silence is being confident, but rather modesty is confidence. Let other people decide if you're worth while, don't proclaim it or boast about it. If there's anything true about you, people will pick up on it.

I just thought this was a cool photo. I saw these two pieces of paper plastered on a poll outside my apartment on my walk to the grocery store, and they weren't there any other day. It just makes me wonder why they are there, who put them there, and why. Maybe it was so somebody would take a picture, post it to Instagram, then blog about it. Who knows!

As some of you may have read on one of my recent blog posts, my mom came to visit! She totally revamped my apartment. My favorite space in the whole apartment is now this amazing desk. It's perfect for homework, blogging, art projects, and basically anything else I do. (I've even been known to eat dinner at it a few times.)

Bob Dylan is seriously one of my favorite people ever. He has to be in my top three. My dad listened to him constantly, and I've grown such an attachment to him. He's fascinating to me because he's so easy to relate to because he's so good with words, regardless of the fact that he changes so often. I really identify with Bob Dylan - The other day somebody told me I reminded them of him, and I swear to God, it was the most beautiful compliment I had ever heard! Now if only I could write a song like him.
Last but certainly not least, this is my dog Max. He's actually my brothers dog, but I love him so much, he should be my dog! He is part wolf. You can't tell from this picture but he is super tall and super skinny! Though he's 50% wild animal, he is the most sweet, kind, polite dog in the world. I've never seen him be mean to anyone. This wolf doesn't have a mean bone in his boney body. <3

I hope you all enjoyed my Instagram inspired post! Let me know in the comments if you enjoy posts like these, and when you think is the best time to post on a blog!

Bob Dylan and Marc Jacobs are God.

These 'what's in my bag?' posts seem to be pretty popular, so I thought I'd give it a try! I can't help but feel like the contents of my bag is really boring, but I'm hoping that's just one of those things that everyone feels but everyone else will find it at least a little bit interesting. Maybe just a tiny bit? And don't worry, I did you all a favor and didn't take any photos of the thousand receipts and garbage I tend to throw in my bag! :)

I usually get to my classes pretty early, so it's important for me to have some entertainment! The iPad unfortunately for my GPA stays out a little past the beginning of class though... The magazines are only out during down time though, I swear!

I am a serious germaphobe. I wash my hands probably 1000 times a day, and I periodically use sanitizer. My favorite is the Body Shop's strawberry flavored sanitizer. The Body Shop is (one of) my guilty pleasures! Everything smells so delicious, and I feel like it's a more grown up version of Bath and Body Works. There's something about their aesthetic that I just don't like! Anyways, I don't know if I have naturally dry skin or if this is a common problem, but my hands are always dry after I wash them, so the body butter is another crucial item in the bag!

This is my most favorite thing that I own. I seriously would die without my iPod. My dad's musical taste consists of 98% Bob Dylan, 2% various other artists from the 1960s. I'm very close with my Dad and thus, I feel very close to Bob Dylan! What can I say? Dad raised a hippie chick.

The second most important thing in my bag is my wallet for obvious reasons, but the biggest reason is because it's Marc Jacobs, and he is one of my all time favorite designers. Dad raised a hippie, but my brother is a total product of the 1990s and he has always been a huge influence on my tastes in music; thus there's quite a bit of grunge in this hippie. So basically, Marc Jacobs and Bob Dylan are Gods and them + Hello Kitty = total bliss for me.

This is like the school time section of my bag. (The good student section I should say, not the iPad and magazine student!) I'm notorious for not bringing a pen or paper to class, so I try to stock up when I do remember. Those jump drives hold basically my entire college experience thus far, and I'm always buying granola bars and forgetting I bought them, so I end up buying more! There's usually a plethora of granola bars from Starbucks in my bag.

Well, there it is guys! There's the exciting contents of my bag. I had to be up at 4 AM for work and have been napping all day since I got off at 11 AM, so I apologize for the late night post! I'm done with school now for three weeks, so I'll have plenty of time to make up for the days I didn't post! (Plus I went shopping at Free People again today, and am still expecting some stuff from them in the mail.) So until tomorrow, have a great night, and enjoy this picture of my beautiful Princess Leia napping. (She likes to sleep with a blanket. How cute is she?)
